19th International Conference on Modern Trends in Inorganic Chemistry (MTIC XIX) will provide an excellent international forum for sharing knowledge and results in theory, methodology and applications of Inorganic Chemistry. Department of Chemistry was established soon after the inception of the Banaras Hindu University in 1916. Over the period, the Department has been nurtured under the able guidance of the eminent educationist and chemists like Prof. S. S. Bhatnagar, Prof. Bawa Kartar Singh, Prof. S. S. Joshi, Padmabhusan Prof. Gurubaksh Singh, Prof. B. M. Shukla, and so on. Many of the illustrious chemists namely, Bharat Ratna Prof. C. N. R. Rao, Prof. V. Krishnan, Prof. J. S. Yadav, Prof. Ganesh Pandey, Prof. D. Basavaiah, Prof. V. K. Singh, Prof. Sandeep Verma to name a few, are the alumni of the this department. Alumni of the Department are established in the posts of Director, Vice-chancellor and other higher administrative positions. Our alumni have honors like S. S. Bhatnagar Prize, B. M. Birla award, Swarna Jayanti Fellowship & Vijnan Ratna Award and have played vital role in the development of Science. To keep abreast with the advancement in frontier areas of Chemistry, our faculty members have been visiting the laboratories of renowned chemists of foreign countries (USA, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Australia, Canada,Spain, etc) and have collaborative projects with them. Research areas being pursued in the Department are mainly focused on the development of materials of technological and biological importance. Excellence in teaching and research has all along been its twin objectives.

How to Reach BHU
By Air:
Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport of Varanasi (VNS) located at Babatpur is approximately 30 km away from BHU. One can easily book a taxi from the airport to reach the BHU campus in around 90 minutes of ride.
By Train:
Three major railway stations that connect Varanasi with almost all other major cities in India are Varanasi Junction (BSB), also popularly called as Cantt. Rly. Station, Banaras Railway Station (BSBS), previously known as Manduadih Rly. Station and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Rly. Station (DDU), previously known as Mughalsarai station.
From Varanasi Railway Station (BSB) to BHU:
BHU campus is about 10 km. from Varanasi Cantt. Railway Station. Round the clock autorickshaw and taxi services are available from Varanasi Cantt. Station to BHU (Lanka). The approximate journey time is 45 minutes.
From Banaras Railway Station (BSBS) to BHU:
BHU campus is about 6 km. from Banaras Railway Station. Round the clock autorickshaw and taxi services are available from Banaras Railway Station to BHU (Lanka). The approximate journey time is 20 minutes.
From Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Railway Station (DDU) to BHU:
BHU campus is about 20 km. from DDU Railway Station. Round the clock autorickshaw and taxi services are available from DDU Rly. Station to BHU (Lanka). The approximate journey time is 75 minutes.
